I haven’t read this one of Orton’s plays, but would suggest the following link as a starting point.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Butler_Saw_%28play%29
Do remember that wikipedia can be altered by any member of the public, so I would research further from that start point.
Good luck

I don’t remember the play well, but it was one of Orton’s wittier ones.
I suppose he attacks normality (or what was thought of as such back then) by using farce, and also in the dialogue.
Farcical – the girl dressed as a boy, the boy dressed as a girl, and the doctor getting into more trouble by telling stupid lies.
Dialogue – Orton deliberately makes his characters use phrases which are ambiguous. On the one hand, innocent, but on the other very politically incorrect. An example is the line the policeman says – something about “misconducting himself with a party of schoolchildren.”
If you re-read the play and look for examples where Orton is definately taking the pee, you’ll probably find your answer.
